Sun damage occurs from UV overexposure over a period of time, sparking scar tissue build up and increased thinning of the skin. Also called photo damage, sun damage occurs when the skin is overwhelmed by harmful UV rays, usually at peak hours of the day (11AM – 3PM), resulting in excess scar tissue and the loss of skin thickness. Usually the signs of sun damage – brown spots, discolouration, redness, increased visible wrinkles, rough leathery texture occur years after the damage has been done.
